Shipping from Guangzhou/Shenzhen, China to Batam, Indonesia: 20FT/40FT FCL and LCL Sea Freight
Shipping Options
1. Full Container Load (FCL):
For larger shipments, using a Full Container Load (FCL) is the ideal choice. A 20-foot or 40-foot container can be used, depending on the size of the shipment. The process follows a CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) shipping term, meaning the seller covers the cost, insurance, and freight until the goods arrive at Batam Port, Indonesia. The journey typically takes around 4 days at sea from the ports of Guangzhou or Shenzhen to Batam, making it a relatively quick and direct route.
2. Less Than Container Load (LCL):
If you’re shipping smaller quantities or cannot fill an entire container, LCL (Less Than Container Load) is a more economical option. In LCL shipping, the goods are consolidated with other shipments in the same container, which helps reduce shipping costs. Similar to FCL, the shipping term is CIF, so the seller handles the insurance, freight, and cost until the goods arrive at Batam Port.
Packaging of the Cash Registers (POS Machines)
Proper packaging is essential to ensure that the cash registers (POS machines) are transported safely and securely during their journey. Here’s how the packaging process typically works:
1. Primary Packaging:
- Protection: Each POS machine is carefully placed in a cushioned box. The box should have adequate foam padding or air bubbles around the device to absorb shocks during transit.
- Sealing: The box is tightly sealed with strong adhesive tape to prevent it from opening during shipping.
2. Secondary Packaging (for FCL or LCL):
- Cartons: Several POS machine boxes are grouped into larger shipping cartons, depending on the volume. These cartons are then securely taped, ensuring they are tightly packed without any empty spaces.
- Labeling: Each carton is labeled with relevant shipping details, such as the consignee’s address, contact number, and other important information.
3. Palletization:
- For larger shipments, especially for FCL, the cartons are often loaded onto pallets. This step helps in organizing the cargo and makes it easier to handle during loading and unloading. The pallets are wrapped in stretch film to keep them secure during transit.
4. Waterproofing:
- To protect the POS machines from moisture, which could be a concern during shipping, the external packaging is often covered with waterproof materials like plastic sheeting.
Delivery to Batam Port
Once the POS machines reach Batam Port, the consignee can either choose to have the goods delivered to their warehouse or arrange for pick-up. With CIF, the seller is responsible for the shipment until it reaches the destination port, including clearing the cargo through Indonesian customs.
