Understanding "500KG=1CBM" and Volumetric Weight in Door-to-Door Shipping.

In door-to-door shipping services, particularly those with double-clearance (or “双清”) features, the phrase “500KG=1CBM” signifies that 500 kilograms (kg) of cargo is equivalent to 1 cubic meter (CBM) of space. This indicates that the cargo is relatively heavy, prompting the consideration of volume to determine shipping costs.

For instance, if we’re transporting foam with dimensions of 100cm×100cm×120cm and a weight of 50 kilograms (kg), the billing would be based on 1.2 CBM. Conversely, for heavy items like iron blocks, steel, or machinery, with dimensions of 90CM×120CM×70CM and a weight of 800kg, the calculation would result in 1.6 CBM for billing.

Regarding billing for express and air freight, the calculation involves volumetric weight, which is determined by multiplying the length, width, and height (in centimeters) of the package and dividing by 6000. For example, if shipping foam with dimensions of 100cm×100cm×120cm and a weight of 50kg, the volumetric weight would be 200.4kg. In such cases, the higher value between the volumetric weight and the actual weight is used for billing. Conversely, for heavy items like iron blocks, steel, or machinery with dimensions of 90CM×120CM×70CM and a weight of 800kg, the billing would be based solely on the actual weight of 800kg.
