Shipping Decorative Paintings from Guangzhou/Shenzhen, China to Lipetsk Port, Russia via CIF 20FT/40FT Full Container and LCL Sea Freight
1. Shipping Options
FCL (Full Container Load)
- Container Sizes Available:
- 20FT Container: Suitable for smaller shipments, approximately 33 cubic meters.
- 40FT Container: Ideal for larger volumes, providing around 67 cubic meters of space.
- Advantages:
- Full control over the container ensures that only your goods are packed, reducing the risk of damage or contamination.
- More cost-effective for large shipments.
LCL (Less-than-Container Load)
- LCL shipping is an economical option if your shipment does not fill an entire container. Your cargo will be consolidated with other goods heading to the same destination.
- Advantages:
- Lower cost for small shipments.
- Suitable for trial shipments or small orders.
2. Packaging Recommendations
To ensure the safe transport of decorative paintings, proper packaging is essential to protect against damage during handling, stacking, and exposure to environmental conditions. Here’s how you can package the items effectively:
A. Primary Packaging
- Use acid-free tissue paper to wrap the surface of the paintings to prevent scratches or smudges.
- Place the painting in a protective plastic sleeve or bubble wrap for added cushioning.
B. Secondary Packaging
- Pack each wrapped painting in a sturdy cardboard box that fits the artwork snugly.
- Include additional padding (e.g., foam, air pillows, or corrugated inserts) to prevent movement within the box.
C. Tertiary Packaging (for Palletizing)
- For multiple paintings, use reinforced wooden crates or carton boxes placed on pallets.
- Seal the crates/boxes securely with waterproof wrapping, such as stretch film or tarpaulin.
- Add corner protectors to safeguard edges and prevent crushing.
D. Labeling and Documentation
- Clearly label each package with “FRAGILE” and “THIS SIDE UP” to guide handlers.
- Attach shipping labels and include documentation, such as invoices and packing lists, in waterproof envelopes affixed to the outer packaging.
3. Transportation Process
Pickup and Consolidation
For LCL shipments, goods from different shippers are consolidated at a warehouse before being loaded into the container. For FCL, your cargo is packed directly into a dedicated container.
Ocean Transport
The shipment is loaded onto a vessel at Guangzhou/Shenzhen port. Depending on the route, the cargo may undergo transshipment before arriving at a Russian port close to Lipetsk.
Customs Clearance
Once the shipment reaches the Russian port, customs clearance is processed. For CIF shipments, the cost of freight and insurance up to the destination port is covered, but the consignee handles customs duties and final delivery.
Final Delivery
After clearance, the goods are transported to Lipetsk either by rail or road. Coordination with a local logistics provider ensures smooth delivery to the final destination.
