Packaging Recommendations
Proper packaging is essential to ensure the safety of pushcarts during the 34-day sea journey. Here are some packaging guidelines:
Protective Wrapping:
- Use bubble wrap or foam padding for individual parts of the pushcarts, particularly handles, wheels, and other protruding components.
Stackable Packaging:
- If pushcarts are foldable, flatten them to optimize space.
- Use cartons or crates designed to be stackable to maximize container utilization.
Palletizing:
- Place cartons on wooden pallets to make loading and unloading easier and reduce the risk of handling damage.
- Secure pallets with shrink wrap and strapping for added stability.
Waterproofing:
- Use waterproof wrapping or plastic liners to protect against moisture during transit.
Labeling:
- Clearly label each package with details such as destination, consignee information, and handling instructions.
- Include “Fragile” or “This Side Up” stickers where applicable.
Fumigation (if required):
- Ensure wooden packaging materials comply with ISPM 15 standards to avoid customs issues.
