Shipping 20FT/40FT Full Container and LCL (Less than Container Load) from Guangzhou/Shenzhen to Jeddah Port, Saudi Arabia: CIF Terms
Shipping Methods: Full Container Load (FCL) vs. LCL
Full Container Load (FCL):
If you are shipping a large quantity or oversized machinery like a line pressing machine, a Full Container Load (FCL) is usually the most cost-effective and secure method. In this case, we recommend a 20FT or 40FT container, depending on the size and weight of the cargo.20FT or 40FT Containers: A 20FT container can typically hold up to 28 cubic meters of cargo, while a 40FT container can carry around 58 cubic meters. The exact choice depends on the volume of your line pressing machine.
CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight): Under CIF terms, the seller is responsible for the cost of the cargo, insurance, and freight up until the goods arrive at the port of destination—Jeddah Port. This means the buyer will only need to pay for import duties, taxes, and clearance fees once the cargo reaches Jeddah.
Less than Container Load (LCL):
If you don’t have enough cargo to fill a full container, you may opt for LCL shipping, which is more economical for smaller shipments. In LCL, your cargo shares container space with other goods, which can lower costs but may involve slightly longer transit times. For this shipment, LCL typically has a transit time of about 20 days from Guangzhou or Shenzhen to Jeddah Port.- LCL Shipping: Cargo is packed into shared container space along with goods from other shippers. The benefit is that you only pay for the volume your goods occupy. However, keep in mind that your shipment may experience slight delays due to the need to consolidate the goods with others at the departure port and to unpack at the destination port.
Shipping Time and Duration
The transit time from Guangzhou or Shenzhen to Jeddah Port is typically 20 days by sea. This can vary depending on the shipping line and any possible delays in transit. It’s important to allow additional time for port handling, customs clearance, and delivery to the final destination.
Cargo Packaging for Sea Freight
Proper packaging is essential when shipping heavy machinery such as a line pressing machine. Below are the general steps involved in packaging your goods for a safe and secure sea journey:
Heavy Machinery Preparation:
- The line pressing machine should be carefully examined and disassembled if necessary to fit into the container or to prevent damage during transport.
- Key components should be securely fastened to a wooden or steel base (pallet or skid) to prevent shifting during transit.
Protective Materials:
- Wooden Crates or Cases: Heavy-duty wooden crates or cases are commonly used for machinery and equipment. These crates should be treated and certified to prevent any pest or fungal contamination (ISPM-15 standards).
- Bubble Wrap & Foam Padding: For extra protection, sensitive parts of the machine should be covered with bubble wrap or foam to absorb shocks and prevent scratches during transit.
- Shrink Wrap: Shrink wrapping the entire machine or individual components can protect them from water, dirt, and other environmental factors during transport.
Marking and Labeling:
- The packaging should be clearly marked with the destination address, handling instructions, and any special instructions (such as “Fragile” or “Keep Dry”).
- Also, the packaging should include the bill of lading, packing list, and any other required documents for customs clearance.
Securing the Cargo:
- For FCL shipments, the line pressing machine must be securely strapped or bolted inside the container to prevent any movement during transport.
- In LCL, goods are typically secured within the container using padding, dunnage bags, and other stabilizing materials to prevent any shifting.
